Extrication
What does extrication mean?
Vehicle extrication is the process of removing a vehicle from around a person who has been involved in a motor vehicle collision, when conventional means of exit are impossible or inadvisable. A delicate approach is needed to minimize injury to the victim during the extrication.
What is rapid extrication?
The rapid extrication technique is designed to move a patient in a series of coordinated movements from the sitting position to the supine position on a long backboard while always maintaining stabilization and support for the head/neck, torso, and pelvis. Indications for the use of rapid extrication.
