Important Considerations Before You Burn
- Prohibited Burning: Small businesses, commercial enterprises, and industries are not permitted to use burn barrels or conduct any form of open burning.
- Restricted Materials: It is illegal to burn building materials, treated or painted wood, furniture, plastic, rubber, garbage, asphalt, or other toxic substances.
- High winds

- Burn Site Preparation:
- Create a firebreak around the burn area to prevent the fire from spreading.
- Keep the area clear of flammable materials such as dry grass, leaves, and debris.
- Supervision & Equipment:
- Never leave the fire unattended.
- Keep water, shovels, and fire extinguishers nearby in case of emergency.
- Have a phone ready to call 911 if the fire gets out of control.
- Time Restrictions: Burns should be completed before dark unless explicitly approved by the Fire Department.
